GOLDEN JUBILEE / CHAPEL ON 28 OCTOBER 2010
DIFFERENT PROJECTS TO COMMEMORATE THE JUBILEE

Special Appeal

Pakshikere, was earlier a part of Kinnigoli Parish which is about 7km away. The catholics residing in this area found it difficult to attend to their spiritual needs. The then Parish Priest of Kinnigoli, Rev. Fr. Jacob Lobo with the Bishop’s permission established a chapel at Pakshikere on 28th October 1960, the feast of St. Jude. Thereafter regular masses were conducted and every year the feast of St. Jude was celebrated with all spiritual activities.

Further, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament came into existence after the establishment of the chapel.

Every Tuesday, Novena of St. Jude and on Friday Charismatic retreats are held in the church. A simple free meal for all retreatants is provided to help them to pray and experience God. On all Thursday’s, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with our parishioners and Ashram children is  held at 6.30p.m. The presence of our Lord is felt powerfully by everyone during the Adoration and Retreat.

Throughout the day a large number of devotees  rush to the shrine for novenas, prayers and counselling. Those who are in distress and despair and those suffering from various ailments such as those fallen into bad habits come to the shrine for help and support, desiring to lead a good normal life and to attain mental peace. They have tremendous faith in St. Jude the hope of the hopeless. Many come for spiritual renewal.

Very recently the old church was given a new look, by renovating the sanctuary , replacing doors, windows and installing new roof, lights, fans etc. This project had cost Rs 43 lakhs. We are grateful to  our benefactors, donors, wellwishers and our parishioners.

A couple of years back we had undertaken the project of constructing ASHRAY to provide shelter to small children attending our parish school who hail from far of places. They are poor and uncared. They are the children of alcoholic  families. This is a social need and we felt that we are morally bound to support and educate them, and care for them.  There are about 41 children who stay at ASHRAY. The girls are accommodated in the local convent. This ASHRAY had cost  Rs 50 lakhs.

We desire to commemorate the establishment of the chapel (which later became parish) which is completing 50years on 28th October 2010. This chapel was established on 28th October 1960 and dedicated to St. Jude.
To mark the event of the Jubilee the following projects are undertaken costing about 50 lakhs.

1.Houses to the poor
We desire to spend 15 lakhs to construct houses for the poor parishioners and repair needy houses.

2.Nidhi
This Nidhi is intended to support Ashray and to meet the needs such as food, dress,     medicine and other petty expenses of the small school going children.

3.Generator
The present generator is a small one and the output is not sufficient. We intend to go for a bigger one.

4. False ceiling  to the Sanctuary
The present Sanctuary has a structured ceiling. It is suggested to have a false ceiling  just below the present one closing on all sides.

5.Bell-Fre
The present bell-fre needs renovation as it is old. The present bell does not give good sound. We intend to install a new     bell weighing about 250kgs, which will produce sound that can be heard at a distance of 5k.m. Hence the present structure needs to be strengthened to give a good appearance. The structure will be just behind the new Adoration Chapel being built up shortly.

6. Adoration Chapel

A need is felt to have a new Adoration Chapel on the right side of the church so that the Blessed Sacrament is available for devotees, visitors and parishioners throughout the day for worshiping.

All these projects will go as we desire with generous support from our donors, benefactors and well wishers.

We earnestly look forward for your co-operation, help and support, so that we will be able to complete all the above projects before the end of the jubilee in 2010.

Your donation may be sent to the Director St. Jude Church. A C No. 116801011000071 Vijaya Bank, Pakshikere, Kemral P.O. - 574146 D.K.

With blessings and prayerful wishes

Yours Sincerely
Parish Priest/Director
