July 25:The Catholic Sabha Pakshikere had
organised a day of ‘Shramadan’ on 24.07.11 to repair the road from
Haleyangadi to Pakshikere. The members of different parish organisations
and the parishioners participated enthusiastically. Mr. Richard
D’Souza, the president of the Catholic Sabha with other members was there to
guide the work and provide help. There were around 100 parishioners
joining hands in repairing the road. The ICYM members of the parish
and the Dominican Sisters did much of the work briskly. Even though rain
interrupted for some time there seemed no stop for the
work.
It was encouraging to see Rev. Andrew D’Souza and Rev. Fr. Sunil Pinto joining hands for the work. Both of our parish priests not only cheered the people with their words but with their work too. The road was mainly repaired in two places, one near Boloor and second near railway crossing. Breakfast and cool drinks were provided by the Catholic Sabha in between the work. The work started soon after the morning mass at 10.00am and ended at 1.00pm with lunch. The local public also appreciated the work by providing water and implements. Some of them even joined the parishioners in work. All in all it was a good show of our unity in service. Thanks to the Catholic Sabha for initiating such a good work towards the society.
