July 25: On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of the St Jude Thaddeus Chapel, many different progammes have been organized by the church. One of the programmes was honouring the Priests who rendered selfless service in St Jude Thaddeus Church, Pakshikere down the years, was held on 25th July 2010 at 3:30 in the afternoon.
Rev Fr Basil Vas the 9th Parish Priest (1997-2004) of the St Jude Church, celebrated the solemn Eucharist together with 17 priests. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis the Rector of the St Joseph Inter Diocesan Seminary broke the Word of God. At the end of the Mass Rev Fr Basil Vas blessed the Bibles and distributed to the four ward coordinators. These Bibles about 500 were donated by one of the Parishioners in honour of the Jubilee year.
Rev Fr Stanley Pereira the first Parish Priest (1964-1973) of the St Jude Thaddeus Church, blessed the foundation Stone for the ‘archway’ to the Church.
Thereafter there was felicitation programme. Vicar Var Rev Fr Alfred Pinto was the chair person and Rev Fr Joseph Martis was the chief guest of the programme. 14 priests who rendered selfless service in the Parish as seminarians and priest were honoured with flowers, fruits, shawl and memorable token. At this time Parish Priest Rev Fr Alban D’ Souza honoured the former Superior Sr Margaret of the Dominican Convent for rendering selfless service in the church. He also bid farwell to her as she moves to Andrapadesh for her future mission. Rev Fr Anil D’ Souza, Asst Parish Priest welcomed Sr Shobha Kuruvile Parambil the new Superior of the Dominican Convent Maria Kripalaya.
Vicar Var Rev Fr Alfred Pinto as the Chair person of the programme said ‘it is beautiful on the part of the Parishioners remember and honour their priest who worked ceaseless for them.
Chief guest Rev Fr Joseph Martis in his talk said that the priest is the servant of God and that one must respect them and treats them well.
The new website of the Parish www.stjudepakshikere.org was launched by Rev Fr Stanley Pereira. Rev Fr Alban D’Souza honoured Mr Vincent Mascarenhas for having designed the website. He also honoured and thanked Rev Fr Oswald Monteiro, Sr Margaret, Sr Florine and community, Miss Nakita Vas, Miss Laveena Cutinho and Miss Joyce Menezes who worked for the website. At this moment he entrusted a file of data to the New Website Committee who promised to work for the website here forth. Sr Tincy the Novice mistress of the Dominican Convent had prepared a beautiful power point on the priest who worked in this Parish was presented at this moment. The whole programme was concluded by Mr. Louis D’ Souza, Vice President of the Parish with his brief vote of thanks. There after there was snacks distributed to all people. Many people other than the parishioners were also present for this programme.
